The hero of the series (Gheed) Wissam Dyaa told Al Mada: Two days before work, I became the hero!

During the Ramadan season, which ended weeks ago, many works appeared remarkably and were circulated by viewers on social media platforms, confirming that Iraqi drama has gradually returned.

The series “Gheed”, starring Wissam Dyaa, Jumana Karim, and Ashti Hadid, and directed by Ali Fadel, was one of the works that was praised by viewers, as the series discussed many societal problems.

(Al-Mada) met the series’ hero, Wissam Diaa, who is currently in the Swedish city of Malmo, where the movie “Hanging Gardens,” starring him, is participating in the City Film Festival.

Wissam says that he was “happy with the audience’s interaction with Ghaid, and on a personal level I believed in that because the work was done in an extraordinary and exceptional way, from the writer to the director to the author to the photography department, the artistic management, and others.”

He added, “Everyone was keen to carry out the work with great precision, and you must make a great effort in order to succeed in this way. This effort is not limited to the heroes of the work only, but everyone has the same responsibility.”

Wissam is known by the public to be a comedic actor, although he had a little dramatic experience in the series “Bing Aam,” as well as the series “Logging Out” and the movie “Hanging Gardens,” but he was not widely known on the local level, so he says that “Gayed is the biggest challenge.” Because my character in the series is completely different from my real personality, which is the biggest challenge.”

Diaa confirms, “It was also a great effort by the entire work team to make me appear in this way because the work was not starring me, but starring another actor, and two or three days before filming, I became the hero of the work. This is a great challenge and I succeeded in it.”

Diaa mentions, “Ghayed is different from all the work I worked on with director Ali Fadel, as all my work was with him except for the films I filmed.”

Diaa explains, “The series added new things to it. Dealing with the actors, with the work team, and with the director was different in Ghayd, and dealing with rehearsals as well. The pressure in the Ghayd series gave me new things. The 30-episode tournament is very difficult and cannot be described, and I learned a lot from it.”

Diaa expresses his joy at the presence of 24 Ramadan drama and entertainment works, in addition to the programs, and says, “As the works increase, there will be good quality. The more quantity, the better quality I produce. I hope it will increase more and more, and that production will not be limited to the Ramadan season only, and that we will emerge from this season, and that there will be series outside.” Ramadan is like confusion, a virus, a corner kick, as the Iraqi viewer wants to watch works from reality.”

Regarding his new feature, Wissam says that he finished filming the series “The Cave,” produced by “Teen Time,” starring him with Haitham Abdel Razzaq, Bayda Al-Muatasem, and a group of young actors. It was before the series “Ghayd” and he did not decide to include it in the Ramadan season, and it will be shown later, indicating that he apologized for being in a feature film. Because of the association with Ged.

Wissam confirms that “he has trips in Europe to show the film Hanging Gardens, which started in Malmö and will be followed by Norway, Lyon, and America.”

In Baghdad, upon his return, he will begin working with Batikh Province.
