The audience knew him from the comedy program “Wilayat Watermelon,” which spread in recent years with new ideas in presentation and treatment. The artist Wissam Diaa participated in dramatic works, the most recent of which was the series “Logging Out,” directed by Ali Fadel, and he also had cinematic experience with director Ahmed Yassin. Speaking to “Al-Sabah,” the artist believes that “Wilayat Watermelon” is the finest comedy presented, as he says, “I cannot say that I have come out of the cloak by moving on to act in other works, because there is nothing better that I would like to try in a specific type of comedy or introduce new ones.” As did Watermelon State.” Dia stated that “he only wants to be an actor, and he does not want to search for himself in acting, because I love working in this field and developing and moving forward with it.” When asked about his experience of being in comedies and tragedies and the difference between them, Diaa continues: I had the opportunity to try myself in drama, and I hope that I have succeeded in multiple experiences, because each of them has a different taste and enjoyment as well.
He believes that Iraqi drama needs rehabilitation in several areas, as it lacks proper production and marketing, and when we reach an understanding of this important stage in the dramatic work industry, we will achieve good and serious things. There is constant criticism of the actor in dramas, but Diaa says, “The Iraqi actor is poor, because he is involved in the struggle of the producer, institutions, and administrative problems, so any negligence in production is borne by the actor who has no profession other than acting.” Diaa is currently preparing for a ten-episode production, written by writer Russel Muhammad, directed by Mahdi Talib, and starring an elite group of Iraqi stars.
